Here are your rights when you are being arrested..
1) What can I do if I am arrested?
- You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions. (Anything you say can be used against you in court.)
- You have the right to consult an attorney before you answer any questions from the police. This also includes in the future after you are arrested.
- If you can not afford an attorney, you can be appointed one if you wish.
- You have the right to stop answering questions whenever you like.
- You may dial your lawyer, but officers cannot listen in
2) What can't I do if I am arrested?
- In some states, you may be required to state your name.
- If you are being pulled over, you may need to present your license, proof and insurance, and vehicle registration.
- Officers may listen to conversations to your family or friends.
- You may not resist an arrest
- You cannot run away unless the officer tells you that you are free to go
- You may not be harrass the officer when you are arrested
